A coalition of commercial enterprise executives and contractors is looking for exchange inside the kingdom’s “scaffold regulation,” covering legal responsibility for falls on construction websites.
On Friday, organizations such as Unshackle Upstate, the Buffalo Construction Exchange, and the Buffalo Niagara Partnership called for changing the law’s “absolute” liability requirement to “comparative” liability. The organization stated that the change might allow juries in court instances to apportion responsibility for elevation-associated accidents on job websites on a case-by-case basis.
Proponents of the change say the scaffold regulation drives up costs on creation tasks, while defenders of the law say it protects construction employees’ safety.
